Renee Vaughan is a Genoa Township Trustee, educator, community leader, and the Republican nominee for Delaware County Commissioner.
Renee has spent years serving Delaware County and working directly on the issues that affect our communities, from roads and infrastructure to development, public safety, township finances, and planning for the future.
As Delaware County continues to grow, Renee believes our communities need experienced leadership that listens to residents, protects taxpayer dollars, plans responsibly for growth, and preserves local control.
She is running for County Commissioner because she believes Delaware County's future deserves thoughtful planning, responsible leadership, and a government that works for the people it serves.
WHY I'M RUNNING
Delaware County is changing quickly.
Our growth brings opportunities, but it also creates challenges. Roads and infrastructure need to keep pace. Communities need to plan for future development. Public safety agencies need the resources to serve growing populations. And taxpayers deserve to know that their money is being spent wisely.
As a Genoa Township Trustee, Renee has seen these challenges firsthand.
She believes growth is inevitable, but poorly planned growth is not.
As County Commissioner, Renee will bring her experience in local government to the county level and work with townships, cities, villages, businesses, community leaders, and residents to plan responsibly for Delaware County's future.
Most importantly, Renee believes government should listen to the people it represents.

Experienced Local Leader
Renee has served as a Genoa Township Trustee since 2020. She understands local government from the ground up and has firsthand experience with roads, infrastructure, development, zoning, public safety, property rights, budgeting, and planning for future needs.
A Record of Fiscal Responsibility
Renee believes taxpayer dollars should be spent carefully and that government should be accountable for the resources it manages. She supports responsible budgeting, eliminating waste, and protecting Delaware County's strong financial position.
Understands Delaware County's Growth
Renee has experienced the challenges of rapid growth firsthand. She believes development decisions need to consider the infrastructure, public safety, transportation, utilities, and quality-of-life impacts on the surrounding community.
A Strong Voice for Local Control
Renee believes decisions affecting local communities are often best made by the people closest to those communities. She respects the role of townships, cities, and villages and believes residents deserve a voice in decisions that affect where they live.
A Leader Who Listens
Renee believes good government starts by listening. Throughout her years in public service and throughout this campaign, she has made it a priority to hear directly from residents, community leaders, business owners, and local officials.
RESPONSIBLE GROWTH
Growth is inevitable. Poorly planned growth is not.
Delaware County is one of Ohio's growing communities, and Renee believes growth should be planned responsibly.
Roads, utilities, public safety, schools, and other infrastructure need to be considered before development occurs rather than constantly trying to catch up afterward.
As a township trustee, Renee has seen firsthand the challenges communities face when development moves faster than infrastructure.
She believes those making development decisions need to consider the impacts of that growth, existing property owners should be respected, and residents should have a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their communities.
Responsible growth isn't about stopping development. It's about planning for the Delaware County we want to have tomorrow.

A PROVEN RECORD OF LISTENING TO RESIDENTS
Before Renee was elected to office, she was a resident who became involved in an issue affecting her community.
In 2018, a development approved by the Genoa Township Trustees faced significant opposition from residents. Renee became involved in a citizen-led effort to put the rezoning before voters.
The referendum succeeded, with voters overturning the rezoning by approximately 76%.
That experience helped shape the way Renee approaches public service today:
Listen first. Respect local voices. Make decisions with the community, not simply for the community.
That experience also helped motivate Renee to run for township trustee.
LEADERSHIP BEYOND GENOA TOWNSHIP
Renee's leadership extends beyond her own township.
She currently serves as President of the Delaware County Township Association, working with township leaders from across the county to address common challenges, share information, and advocate for local government.
She also serves as a Director on the Ohio Township Association Board, allowing her to work with township leaders across Ohio and advocate for local government at the state level.
These roles have given Renee a countywide perspective and a deeper understanding of how decisions made at the county and state levels affect local communities.
AN EDUCATOR AND COMMUNITY LEADER
Before entering elected office, Renee spent 15 years as a special education teacher in Indiana and Pennsylvania.

Her years in education taught her the importance of listening, solving problems, working with people from different backgrounds, managing limited resources, and advocating for people who depend on effective public systems.
Those lessons continue to influence the way she approaches public service.
ABOUT RENEE
Renee grew up in the small town of St. Leon, Indiana, where she learned the value of hard work, community, personal responsibility, and looking out for your neighbors.
Today, she and her husband, Bob, have been married for 29 years and are the proud parents of three sons.
Her family and small-town roots continue to shape the way Renee approaches public service.
She believes government should be accountable to the people it serves, and that strong communities are built when neighbors, families, businesses, and local leaders work together.
WHAT RENEE BELIEVES
Renee is a Republican who believes in conservative principles while recognizing that county government has to serve every resident of Delaware County.
Limited Government
Government should focus on its core responsibilities, provide essential services well, and remain accountable to the people it serves.
Fiscal Responsibility
Taxpayer dollars should be spent carefully. Waste should be eliminated, budgets should be responsible, and long-term financial stability should be protected.
Local Control
Decisions are often best made by the people closest to the communities they affect. Renee believes local voices matter.
Personal Responsibility
Government should empower people and communities rather than unnecessarily expanding its role in their lives.
Public Safety
Law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, and other first responders deserve our support as they work to keep Delaware County safe.
Property Rights
Existing property owners deserve to have their interests considered as communities grow and development decisions are made.
THE REPUBLICAN NOMINEE FOR DELAWARE COUNTY COMMISSIONER
Renee earned the Republican nomination for Delaware County Commissioner in the May 5, 2026 primary, receiving 11,685 votes, or 56.73%.
She now moves forward to the November 3 general election.
Renee is asking voters throughout Delaware County to learn more about her experience, her priorities, and her vision for the county.
